John Gilroy joined the Pew Environment Group in 2010 when the Campaign for America’s Wilderness merged with Pew. He had been associate director of the Campaign for America’s Wilderness from its inception in 2002.
Previously, Gilroy was a consultant to various national foundations and organizations. His work has focused on developing and promoting regional and national campaigns to protect old-growth forests, critical habitat and roadless areas in national forests. Gilroy also spent a year at the Rockefeller Family Fund as a program associate. From 1988 to 1992, he was executive director of the Vermont Public Interest Research Group.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and politics from New York University and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Gilroy serves on the boards of the Alaska Wilderness League, Public Interest Projects and Vermont Energy Investment Corp.
